1974 Porsche 914 Paint Colors & Codes
Standard and Mostly Consistent
The four-cylinder Porsche 914 cars used Volkswagen paint
code conventions consistently throughout their seven-year production
run. Of course, the marketing folks needed something to do, so the
color names sometimes differed from the VW models with the same paint
codes, and even these names occasionally changed year-to-year.
Not Gaudy Enough?
In early 1974, two styles of "Limited Edition" (LE) Porsche 914 vehicles were released. These cars were fully optioned 2.0L models with "unique" (some might say garish) paint schemes. The "Bumblebee," paint code U1V9 (although the body plate shows "L041"), was Black with Sunflower Yellow accents. The "Creamsicle," paint code U2V9 (body plate shows "L80E"), was Light Ivory with Phoenix Red accents. The LE paint schemes were available for only a few months.
